In our July general Modern and Vintage Home auction a collection of garden decoration including a early Triumph ladies bicycle, a penny farthing themed planter, a wooden cart wheel and a pair of composite planters went under the hammer but was unsold on the day. As in normal practice for unsold lots the items were entered again in August and this time, still with little interest, the maiden bid of £20 sealed the deal and the bedraggled bicycles headed for a new home with collectors and restorers, the Noonan's, for further consideration and no plan for the Penny Farthing at the time.

Shoot forward 2 months and the metal work has been stripped and sanded, repaired and restored in a new glossy coat of black with gold detailing, not knowing at the time that this wouldn't be the first of the 'Golds' for this fancy planter.

The star of the stand the beautiful bike featured on the National Dahlia Society gold medal winning exhibit at the Harrogate Autumn flower show at Newby Hall in September 2021 and is now happily seeing out the season at the Noonan's garden in the Yorkshire Wolds.
