A French Tourte stamped violin bow, the ebony frog inlaid with mother of pearl eye and with a silver overlaid ebony adjuster.
Fran?ois Xavier Tourte was a French bow maker who made a number of significant contributions to the development of the bow of stringed instruments, and is considered to be the most important figure in the development of the modern bow. Because of this, he has often been called the Stradivari of the bow.

A mounted collection of fifteen WWII German medals and badges, to include Iron Cross, Drivers Badge, Submarine's badge, miniature Mother's Cross, Eastern Front medal, War Merit medal, Social Welfare Award, Wound badge, Nalvik Shield, West Wall medal and Crimea Shield.
Provenance: during the second world war the vendors wife's grandparents worked a farm in the Leathley/Stainburn area of West Yorkshire . They had three children who would all be early teenagers during the war. There was a PoW camp in Otley and some of the prisoners were taken to the farm to work. All got on very well with each other and the PoW's put together a selection of their badges and medals for the children as a memento of their time there. They have been left on the original card they were put on and never cleaned. They came into the vendors possession on the death of the vendors wife's uncle back in January 2018.
