1976 Lambretta GP200, 200cc (please note the V5C states 150cc). Registration number NWB 752P. Frame number 22/0*22*026640 (not found). Engine number 200GP*301690*.
Automobile Products of India (API) began assembling Innocenti-built Lambretta scooters in India after independence in the 1950's beginning with 48 cc, Ld model, Li 1st series. They eventually acquired a licence to build the Li150 Series 2 model, which was sold under the Lambretta name until about 1976 and later on changed the name to Lamby for legal reasons. API also built the trademark model [API-175] three-wheeler which was based on Innocenti's Lambretta.
In 1972, Scooters India Ltd. (SIL) a state-run enterprise based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, bought the entire Lambretta manufacturing and trademark rights. Former Innocenti employees were used to set up an Indian factory as all the manuals and machinery instructions were in Italian. The first scooter built was the Vijay Delux/DL, which was badged the Lambretta GP150 in export markets. This was later enhanced to become the Vijay Super. Further improvements were made in the final years of production by incorporating a contemporary Japanese CDI unit and an advanced front suspension. SIL also distributed complete knock downs that were assembled in different parts of India and sold as the Allwyn Pusphak, Falcon, and Kesri. These were of a lower quality than the SIL-produced models and sometimes incorporated significant styling changes.
NWB was bought from Lambretta Scooter Restorations in Nottingham as GP150 project in April 2003 by Ian Platts and first registered with DVLA in 2004 when it was its original orange colour, in 2008 it was treated to a 225 factory stage 4 (70mm piston) kit. MOT's from 2012 at 3,833 miles through to 2015 at 4,518 miles.
Our vendor bought it in 2016 and in 2017 it was subject to a major restoration by A.F. Rayspeed of Malton after the engine gave up do to a holed piston at a cost of £1,107.
It was then painted in homage to Hull F.C. 150 year anniversary in 2015, with players such as Jake Connor, Clive Sullivan, Peter Stirling, David Topliss, Danny Houghton and Scott Taylor.
and kept on display at his home, it is being sold as he is emigrating, it was ridden to the collection point and the odometer reads only 136miles, presumably reset when restored.
Sold with the V5C.
