1972 MG Midget, 1275cc, project. Registration number OXF 809L. Chassis number GAN5 121551 G. Engine number 12V/588P/H4280.
Sold with the V5 and a 1983 MOT at 84,318 miles, today it stands at 84,897, keys. There is a NOS drivers door included in the sale and various parts in the boot.
The Midget was produced 1961 to 1979; the Mk I between 1961 - 64, the Mk II 1964 - 66 and then the Mk III between 1966 - 74 before being replaced by the "Rubber Bumper" versions.
The Mk III engine grew to 1275 cc using the development seen on the Mini-Cooper 'S'.
Minor facelift changes were made to the body trim in late 1969 (1970 model year), with the sills painted black, a revised recessed black grille, and squared off tail lights as on the MGB. The 13-inch Rubery Owen "Rostyle" wheels were standardized, but wire-spoked ones remained an option. In January 1972 the square-shaped rear wheel arches became rounded.
Many consider the round-arch Midgets with chrome bumpers produced for model years 1972-1974 to be the most desirable.
This example has been owned by our vendor since March 1978, he is the third owner. It was parked in a barn in 1984 and has stayed there ever since. It will need a full restoration.
