Introduced in 1968 the original Series I was replaced with the Series II in 1973 and the Series III in 1979. It's known for its combination of classic styling, comfortable ride, and powerful engine options, including the "High Efficiency" (HE) version of the 5.3L V12. The Sovereign trim level was the more luxurious version of the XJ6, with additional features and options.
NUM's first owner is reputed to be Ian Appleyard (William Lyon’s stepson) and it was the Jaguar Leeds demonstrator with the registration 666 APP. It was then sold a the director of Burnhill animal feeds before our vendor in August 1991.
There are 10 stamps in the service book, which also notes the speedo change at 58,883 miles. (The original is with the car). MOT's are on file from 1991 confirming the mileage.
He states that it is structurally sound with no issues, the bodywork is original and in good condition, all panels straight. The car was subjected to an extensive overhaul in 2018, the IRS removed, the brakes, discs, and shock absorbers were replaced, the steering rack was overhauled, as were oil cooler, water pump, belts and header header tank.
The panels and underside were then Dinitrol treated, new tyres, the Pepperpots wheels were re-painted, and new exhaust fitted. It has been little used since.
The interior is in very good condition, with unmarked blue leather. The dash, woodwork, carpets are all in fine condition. The chrome too is unblemished.
It comes all its full book pack, original full tool kit and jack.
