£8,000 - £10,000
1966 Velocette Thruxton 500cc Clubman. Not Registered With DVLA. Frame Number RS18866. Engine Number VMT343. Gearbox Number 12-11943.
Sold with a covering letter dated March 2004 confirming matching number status, details of the original US ordering dealer, and that it is an authentic Thruxton
The Thruxton was a sports bike produced by British maker Veloce between 1965 and 1971.
The model was a further refinement of the Venom, and included several of designer Bertie Goodman's innovations, including a big valve head, close ratio gearbox, twin leading shoe brakes, rear sets and clip on bars.
A limited model run of only 1108 units ceased when Veloce ceased trading in 1971.
This example, with the rarer large headlamp option and Blue / Silver colour scheme, was sold new in the USA.
It has remained stored and unused since import, and our vendor states that it has had an engine and gearbox rebuild, but will require some recommissioning, with particular regard to checking the electrics.
